Construction began the week of July 14, 2014 to extend new water mains to provide access to public water for 135 households in rural Kenton County thanks to $2.3 million in loan and grant funding approved by the USDA Agency of Rural Development, $1 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to the Kenton County Fiscal Court, and funds from the Kenton County Fiscal Court and the Northern Kentucky Water District (NKWD).  Read more...

The United States Department of Environmental Protection announced last week that it plans to award NKADD a brownfield assessment grant for the Licking River Greenway Corridor. This grant will allocate $600,000 to the Licking River Greenway Brownfield Coalition, to assess brownfield sites assumed or known to be contaminated with hazardous substances. The 20th Annual Senior Expo was held on August 14, 2014 at Newport on the Levee.  The event featured entertainment by Wizardz Magic Theatre and the Pete Wagner Orchestra, exhibitors, and health screenings.

Congratulations to Kentucky Connected, a regional partnership between NKADD, KIPDA, two KYTC Districts, and Gallatin, Carroll, Owen, Henry, Trimble, and Oldham Counties.  They received the Spirit of Kentucky Award from Gov. Steve Beshear and the Department for Local Government on August 28, 2014.
