The Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of full-time HelpLine Addiction Specialist for the Northern Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy. This individual will be responsible for in-bound calls, case management, and community education as well as some supervisory responsibilities. This position may be asked to work in a variety of settings to maintain consistent contact with participants including office, community, correctional or medical facility and/or transitional living environments. The HelpLine Addiction Specialist will assist participants in connecting to prevention, treatment, disease management, and recovery services and resources. Responsibilities will also include follow-up documentation, record keeping, and the regular use of a database as well as file management and maintenance of compliance standards and guidelines. The person in this position will also work with individuals receiving services from providers of multiple social services with the goal of teaching/improving self-advocacy skills. The HelpLine Addiction Specialist will also help providers develop and/or enhance their understanding of both person-centered care and the support network available to participants. Community education and regular meetings will also be duties assigned to this position and will necessitate strong presentation skills. Due to the nature of this role, flexibility in scheduling will be key and on-call responsibilities as well as some non-traditional hours will be required. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field required. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Significant experience/knowledge/accomplishment in substance abuse education/prevention/treatment/recovery may supplement education and/or experience. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness and ability to complete in-home visits. Must possess solid organizational and time management skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills as well as relationship building skills. The ability to collaborate well with colleagues, participants, and partner agencies and resource providers is necessary. Maintaining positive work relationships, as well as a professional demeanor is critical to success in this role. Applicants must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
