PART-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (10/9/2019)

This position includes a variety of customer service and administrative duties twenty hours per week during weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. This is a nonexempt position and the pay rate will be in the range of $15 to $20 per hour. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point strongly preferred. GENERAL NATURE OF WORK
This is a nonexempt position in the Administration Department. The Administrative Department performs customer services, clerical, accounting, payroll, and personnel functions of the City. An employee in this position is responsible for visitor and phone customer service, data entry, maintaining records and other office functions. This position is approximately 20 hours during weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Provides customer support to visitors
  • Answers telephone calls
  • Prepares letters, spread sheets and reports in Microsoft Office Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Creates Adobe PDF fillable forms
  • Creates Excel spreadsheets and enter data
  • Maintains electronic and paper filing system
  • Distributes Mail
  • Processes property tax, recreation program, police fines and other miscellaneous payments
  • Performs related duties as required and assigned
  • Coordinating Microsoft Office Outlook calendars meetings

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, like copiers, mailing machines
  • Attention to detail and problem solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work effectively on a daily basis with limited supervision
  • Positive attitude with customers and coworkers

DESIREABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School degree required
  • Two years of college courses or degree preferred
  • Administrative and reception duties or local government experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand and bend as necessary for filing
  • Ability to lift files and deliveries up to twenty-five pounds
