ASSISTANT CITY ADMINISTRATOR

The City of Dayton (population 5,333), one of Northern Kentucky’s historic riverfront cities, is seeking a professional and driven local government manager with experience fostering cooperation and operating in a dynamic, highly visible, multi-task environment to serve as Assistant City Administrator.
Annual budget of $5.5M, 23 staff.The Assistant City Administrator plans, organizes, and directs activities in the city at the direction of the City Administrator, with particular emphasis in the areas of economic development, residential development, and community relations.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring present business activities and development of marketing and outreach strategies to promote business retention and growth of current businesses and attract new businesses to the city based on the city’s strategic plan, economic goals, and direction from City Council.
Ideal candidate must be able prioritize, develop, and implement long-range strategies to ensure the economic health and vitality of the City and improve housing – both affordable housing and market-rate housing opportunities — in the City of Dayton.
Duties also include building and maintaining strong community relations, including serving as the city’s liaison to various city boards and commissions and to residents, neighborhood groups, and business-related organizations.
Employee will report to the City Administrator and coordinate his or her activities with other city departments.Salary: $55,000 to $75,000 DOQ
