The one question everyone asks as high schoolers approach graduation is, “What do you want to do?” For some, this is an easy question. For others, it creates anxiety and uncertainty. Through the efforts of the GROW NKY College & Career Readiness committee and member organizations efforts, local students have started using YouScience, an innovative aptitude and career exploration platform. YouScience helps students and job seekers find a meaningful career pathway where they can excel, based on their own strengths. YouScience uses online brain games to match what students do well (aptitudes) and what they like to do (interests) with in-demand careers for which they have a competitive advantage.

With just under 10,000 students completing the assessment, the data available about Northern Kentucky’s potential future workforce is clearer than ever, as is the need for exposing students to a wider variety of career opportunities. By introducing students to career paths that match their aptitude, we can better match future job seekers with employers. GROW NKY, and its partners understand the future implications this type of data could have for employers and their future workforce pipelines. In support of Northern Kentucky Cooperative Educational Services (NKCES) and Navigo, which have helped local schools make use of the YouScience platform, paid for reporting and compiled data, GROW NKY partners are excited to share this exciting new perspective with educators, employers, and the community.
