FLORENCE, KY December 21, 2017 – The Butler Foundation was honored as the recipient of the Community Service Award by the Northern Kentucky Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living’s Council on Aging during an event December 7.

As the philanthropic organization supported by Covington-based real estate investment firm Corporex, the Butler Foundation was established in 1979 to directly help low-income Northern Kentucky families. In 2016, the Butler Foundation helped more than 150 individuals by providing emergency hardship relief.

One Northern Kentucky resident, Sandra Miller, received life-changing assistance from the Butler Foundation in 2017, when she received a grant to upgrade her motorized wheelchair. Miller, who has cerebral palsy, said she probably would have had to move to an assisted living facility without the  wheelchair modifications, which include headlights and electronically raising the chair’s seat.

Other grants funded by the Butler Foundation purchased a portable oxygen concentrator to help an oxygen-dependent client remain active in her community, purchasing or modifying electronic scooters, and helping to purchase prosthetics.

In the accompanying photo, NKADD Human Services Associate Director Anne Wildman stands with Sandra Miller and Barbara Schaefer, Executive Director of the Butler Foundation.

The Council on Aging meets monthly on the first Thursday, except January and June, at NKADD, 22 Spiral Drive, Florence KY 41042. Meetings start at 10 a.m. The public is welcome to attend. The next meeting will be February 1, 2018.

Used Communication System Tower Shelters

  1. When it comes to delivery of the shelters, will they all be ready to be offloaded/delivered around the same time? Or will this be a situation to where there is weeks in between deliveries. Reason I ask is if we can try to offload a couple shelters in the same day it’s going to save on crane costs. If you want me to just quote it as being a separate deployment for each site I can do that now and then we can discuss this more down the road when it gets closer.
Pricing should reflect separate deployment for each site.

  2. It mentions that an entry port shall be provided in the shelter for coax. All of our shelters will have an entry port in them somewhere and some may have multiples. If the shelter doesn’t have the entry port location in the right spot and we have to physically cut a whole then there is a charge to do so. This is going to be very hard to determine when we don’t know which shelters are going to which sites but I just want to bring that topic up.
Please provide a cost for cutting a new entry port as a separate line item so that we can utilize if necessary.

  3. Are you ok with getting a mix of 10x20s and 12x20s or would you rather stick to all the same size?
10X20 shelters are preferred but a mix of the two will be considered.

  4. All of our shelters either have 3 ton or 5 ton HVACs so when it comes to 10x20’s or 12x20’s we typically see 3 ton units. I know the bid states 5 Ton but would you be open to a shelter having (2) 3 Ton HVAC’s?
Shelters with two (2) 3 Ton HVAC units will be acceptable.

  5. Where would you like to have pictures of the shelters sent? Via email? Via shared online storage?
If the file size of the pictures are too large for email, a shared online storage link should be shared with This email address is being protected from spambots.
